JAKARTA,BritaBrita.com— The defendant on the religious blasphemy case, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), stated his objection towards the testimony of the Chairman of Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), KH Maruf Amin.
During the session, Ahok also stated that Ma’ruf’s statements were opposite to what he believed was right. He gave an example that MUI’s instructed the Head of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Habib M Rizieq Shihab, to safeguard the trial. For him it was incriminating. He argued that Rizieq had a sentimental side. It was showed when he was inaugurated to be the Governor of Jakarta.
“I was objected on the witness decision to delegate Habib Rizieq to be a witness, because when I was a governor of Jakarta, he strongly rejected me and made his own counter governor,” said Ahok.
The other objection was about the witness testimony stated that the people in Seribu Island, especially in Panggang Island, did not welcome him. He argued that the people were really welcomed him. “I came to Seribu Island, they laughed. Yesterday I also came to six islands, the welcomed me well,” he said as reported by Republika Online.
Previously, the Chairman of MUI, KH Ma’ruf Amin, has insisted to delegate the Head of FPI, Habib Rizieq Shihab, as an expert on religion, to safeguard the blasphemy case by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok. He argued that Rizieq was able to carry out the task. Moreover, he was an alumnus of an Arabic university. “Right (Habib Rizieq was delegated to safeguard the blasphemy case),” said Ma’ruf on his testimony.
